Police in Western Lakes State has confirmed the killing of South Sudan People Defense Force or SSPDF soldier in western Bahr-Naam County on September 11, 2019.

According to Good News Radio, the deceased was identified as Malok Malual Malok from Division Five who was on a leave from his military duty.

State Police Spokesperson Captain Elijah Mabor Makuac says the soldier was gunned down by armed civilians in Mathiang Abuoi last week reportedly to take a gun from him.

Mabor says the culprits made their way with the gun after the killing, promising that the murderers will be apprehended and brought to book.

Elijah points out that armed youth have carried rampant looting into towns, however, captain Mabor believes that the security organs are working hard to combating such crimes in the town.

The state government is yet to officially launch civilian disarmament exercise however; a disarmament committee was formed last week.
