Regional Women and Peace Project Officer for South Sudan Council of Churches Moni Tabitha Emmanuel says women are seen as mothers and that they play a great role in the nation.

She explains to Radio Easter that when a woman talks about peace, she is always heard and respected.

The lady mentions that it is important for women to engage in peace process and be capacitated in conflict resolution.

‘Women are seen as mothers, not only mothers. When they go out to speak to people, they are looked at the mothers of the entire nation. So when a woman comes out to speak about peace, she is respected and people listen to her because they know that women play a very big role in this country. So its very important for the women to engage in peace process and also to be capacitated on how to resolve conflict’, says Tabitha.

Tabitha calls on women to take part in resolving conflict and be ambassadors of peace in South Sudan.

‘It is a process for women to come on full board to take part in resolving the conflict. That’s why; we have come out to train the women so that they can be the ambassadors of other women who are at the grassroots. So it’s a process for the women to fully participate in this process’, She adds.
