Security force collects over ten guns from civilians in Torit town

The Joint Security Force in Torit on Sunday collected eight AKM 47 and three G3s following the disarmament exercise aimed at combating insecurity in town.
 
According to Radio Emmanuel, the unannounced disarmament exercise carried out in the residence was the result of several cases of insecurity in the area.
 
Recently a national security officer on leave was killed in Inkas residential area.
 
Police Spokesperson Colonel Mathew Ochan Jacob says grenades were among the weapons collected from civilians.
 
Colonel Ochan states that the exercise will continue especially in the high risk areas.
 
He calls on local population to report people holding guns to the concerned authorities.
 
The spokesperson appeals to security forces to keep their guns in their unit of operation.
 
In Torit there are several incidences of harassment, looting, robbery and killings, but no suspect has been arrested.
