The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or OCHA reported that nearly 26,000 South Sudanese refugees returned from Sudan voluntarily in June and July.

OCHA quoted UNHCR report that many of them returned to Unity State, while a smaller number arrived in Upper Nile.

The Office said staple food prices remained at the highest level recorded in the past three years.

It reported that increase of malaria cases continue, causing illness and deaths especially among children due to the rainy season intensification across the country.

The Office also reported forty-four access incidents in July where fourteen were as a result of criminality, mostly targeting humanitarian organizations in Juba.

OCHA said there were active hostilities around Maiwut town and humanitarian activities for displaced people and returnees in the area were affected.

Humanitarian organizations operating in the area relocated 10 staff, it added.
