Referees in Rumbek and Local Football Association disagreed when referees refused to handle South Sudan Cup tournament after demanding 5,000 South Sudanese per each match.

Rumbek local football association rejected the demand of the referees.

Association Chairperson Ater Deng Mabok confirmed to Good News Radio that referees are not willingness to officiate South Sudan Cup Tournament due to financial disagreement.

He said the referees demand is too much and the Association cannot afford to pay them 5000 South Sudanese pounds per match.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Zachariah Magot Ater, called on referees to drop their demand, but look at the financial constrain facing the country.

He appealed to football referees to voluntarily give their skills to the young generation.

Good News Radio could not reach head referees for comments whether they have changed their minds or not.
