Parish Priest of St Theresa in the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek Augustine Ekeno on Sunday calls on South Sudan warring parties to take peace and surrender war for the sake of the suffering population.

He preached at Holy Family Cathedral that while political leaders fight they forgot that people are suffering of hunger and diseases, Good News Radio reports.

“We cannot continue to fight and in our fighting, our people continue to suffer, let us surrender. For the sake of our people who are dying and suffering and sturbing of hunger and everything, let us surrender”, he stresses.

Fr Ekeno explained that “in the fighting each one tries to show that I am powerful, but you know in their fighting they forgot the people. They forgot that the people are suffering, they forgot that the people dying, they forgot that the people are lacking food, they forgot that people are lacking even sleep.  For them what matters is fighting and fighting”.

He points out that South Sudanese leaders are fighting for their positions and neglecting their people.

The Parish Priest urges Christians to speak the truth to those who are causing miserable life to citizens.

“We must learn to tell our brothers, our sisters, our family members when we see they are doing things that are not Godly, that are not just, that are not fair, call  him and her and say my brother, my sister I think what you are doing is not okey.  Don’t care what they are going to do to you, say the truth and the truth will set you free, the truth will set us free, that is the voice of God”, he elaborates
