A priest in the Catholic Diocese of Torit is calling on communities of Ibahure and Lohutok to reconcile among themselves for durable peace to prevail.

The call came when the two villages failed to appear for reconciliation dialogue organized by Inter-Church Council in collaboration with inter religious council on Tuesday.

Speaking to Radio Emmanuel, Parish Priest of St John the Baptist in Iboni, Luscious Izama says the dialogue was an attempt to bring the two communities together following last year’s conflict that claimed five lives

The priest calls on community leaders to stop inciting conflict among communities which according to him causes suffering to innocent civilians in the area.

He recalls that the conflict has caused poor relationship between the two communities.

Fr Izama encourages local communities to embrace the spirit of forgiveness and togetherness among them.

The catholic priest was talking to Radio Emmanuel in a telephone interview on Wednesday.
