Ministry of Agriculture starts providing local seeds for next year

Wau State Ministry of Agriculture supported by Food and Agricultural Organization or FAO and the Catholic University of South Sudan started providing local seeds for farmers next year.
 
Voice of Hope Radio quoted Minister of Agriculture, Simon Athuai Akot, disclosing that they have already started in Wau and in different four locations among them is former Halima project.
 
Athuai also reveals that they are using crops like sorghum, maize, rice and sesame in the project.
 
He points out that in a short time the state will not be depending on imported seeds, but will use the local ones.
 
The minister explains that the project is also indirectly done through progressive farmers by providing them with seeds for cultivation and after will be bought back from them.
 
The seeds used in the project are being distributed by FAO and some local ones bought from Jou market of Wau town.
