The Director-General in the Ministry of General Education and Instruction in Tonj confirms that they have started paying school girls thier money in the state.
Manyang Atak Athuai, reveals that the cash is given to primary four and secondary learners, Don Bosco Radio reports.
“The orderly way of payment is that the girl must receive the cash in person and all girls should be accompanied by parent or guardian when attending school to receive the cash trasfer. This is in order to minimize risk to them after payment has been made to them”, he enlghtens.
Manyang clarifies that one girl gets 4100 Pounds, but that those who were last year in primary three and now in four get 2050 Pounds.
According to the payment here, one child receives 4100. Those who were in primary four last year and they have gone to primary five now, tand those who were in primary three and have gone to primary four, hey are going to receive 2050. And in November they are going to receive 2050, making a total of 4100. Not monthly, but yearly, . this is to encourage the girls, this is a short of encouragement og girsl”, the Director-General clarifies.
He advises the school girls not to misuse the money, but to use it meaningfully because it meant to support them to continue with their studies.
Josephine Ajook Malou, a pupil from Tonj Girls’ Primary School, appreciates GESS for the support to girls in the school.
She calls upon the parents to allow their girls to go school for studies.
Cash transfer is money given to girls in order to encourage girls’ child education in South Sudan through Girls Education in South Sudan funded by European Union.
