Torit State Director-General of Gender Child and Social Welfare on Thursday told South Sudanese to own and disseminate the Revitalized Peace Agreement to people at grassroots.
Dominica Idwa asks peace actors to translate the document into local languages to allow citizens to understand the agreement’s full context, Radio Emmanuel reports.
She says it is a responsibility of every South Sudanese to spread the message of peace for sustainable harmony to prevail in the country.
‘We are the ambassadors of peace, let’s own the peace and we go down to the ground and disseminate it the right way don’t contradict it, take it as you heard it from here and even inside this leaflet read it very well’, the Directors-general notes.
Idwa calls on peace partners to build capacity of religious leaders to disseminate the agreement to people in Churches and Mosques.
According to her, many South Sudanese are not aware of what is the revitalized peace agreement contains.
‘There should not forget to disseminate the peace agreement to the religious leaders or interreligious. We need not to forget these people because they are the primary people who can spread the messages in the Churches and Mosques,’ she explains
Meanwhile Esther Ikere, Undersecretary in the national Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare applauds Torit citizens for the improvement of peace and security in the state.
She encourages citizens to continue advocating for lasting peace and development in the young nation.
The officials made the remark during a two-day workshop on the dissemination of the Revitalized Peace Agreement in Torit on Thursday.
The workshop that drew civil servants, members of parliament, and civil society groups was organized by Torit State Ministry of Gender Child and Social Welfare with support from UNDP.
