21 thousand girls receive GESS money in Wau, says official

Twenty-one thousand learners from different schools in Wau State on Wednesday started receiving their Girls Education South Sudan or GESS money, says Primary Schools Director at the State Ministry of Education.
 
Voice of Hope Radio quoted Awath Nyang Dut saying they and their partners: HARD organization and Girls Education South Sudan launched cash transfer.
 
He added that the money is usually given to girls to help them get their scholastic materials needs.
 
Andrea Amet, GESS project coordinator says the girls who are receiving the money are pupils who were registered in 2018.
 
He noted that the cash transfer delayed due to technical problem.
 
The money delivery will be going on from this week up to next week in Wau Municipality, Jur River County and Raja, the coordinator explains.
 
Some of pupils and students who received their money expressed their happiness and gratitude that the money will help their scholastic the needs.
 
Hundreds of girls who had received asked the organization to increase the money to cover their needs because their families are facing economic crisis as well.
 
The speakers made the remark at Khor Mudir Primary School.
