The chairman of motor riders association known as Boda-boda in Western Lakes has rejected the provisional order issued by Rumbek municipality on legal taxes.
On Tuesday Rumbek municipality issued an order prohibiting illegal tax collection imposed by the association on riders.
Boda Boda association confiscates anybody having a bicycle with no association ID and imposed 700 SSP as tax every day.
Shadrach Chol Apin says the office rejects municipal order because the association is independent from municipality.
Riders who speak on behalf of cyclists complaint that they are not happy, accusing association of collecting a lot of money on daily basis for a purpose that is not clear.
Meanwhile Rumbek Mayor, Mabor Cawuop Mabor accuses the association of enforcing unnecessary taxes on cyclists contrary to article 40 of the Local Government Acts 2009.
He assures people that municipal authorities have no objection to any group or association.
The speakers made the remarks to Radio Good News in Rumbek on Wednesday.
