Uganda currently has no confirmed cases of Ebola Virus; the government assured participants to the weeklong Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar or SECAM Plenary Assembly in Kampala.
AMECEA News Online quoted Acting Director-General of Health in Uganda saying that there has been no new case since the death of members of one family in Kasese District on June 10, 2019.
He told Secretary-General of Uganda Episcopal Conference Monsignor John Baptist Kauta that 113 people suspected to have been in contact are being monitored and vaccinated against Ebola.
So far, none of the suspects has shown signs of Ebola and 17 of these have already completed the required 21 days of follow-up, said Dr Mwebesa.
He added that there is a strong surveillance team from the Ministry of Health to the villages in Kasese covering all the 89 villages of the district.
The government of Uganda further assured delegates that the risk of spreading even within Kasese District remains low.
