National health delegation visits Yei State on Ebola preparedness

A high delegation from the national Ministry of Health and partners visited Yei River on Monday to discuss about Ebola preparedness in the state.
 
The Undersecretary of the Minister of Health Dr Makur Matur Koryom says they are working hard to ensure the disease does not reach South Sudan, Radio Easter reports.
 
The international community is concerned to support activities and preparation to prevent the virus from spreading to other countries.
 
Acting Governor of Yei River State Yusto Baba Dema calls on the opposition group to allow the establishment of the screening points of Ebola in their controlled areas.
 
According to World Health Organization or WHO there is Ebola outbreak on July 11 in Arua District of Uganda near DR Congo border.
 
It says it is currently stepping up its response readiness to prevent imported cases of Ebola following the death of a patient on June 30, 2019 in Ariwara Health Zone.
 
This case is known to have over 200 contacts, some of whom are in the communities bordering the Arua district. 
 
Two suspected cases in the Arua District were reported on July 9, 2019 and both tested negative.
 
There are cumulative number of individuals vaccinated in the district is 811 out of 1092 targeted front line and healthcare workers.
 
After the first reported case in the Ariwara Health Zone on 30 June, no new cases have been observed in that health zone.
