The President of the Republic of South Sudan has announced release of fifteen inmates during the 8th Independence Day speech at the state house in Juba.
Salva Kiir Mayardit while addressing the nation on Tuesday calls on citizens to remember the Heroes and Heroines who died during the struggle to independence.
The fifteen prisoners released hail from Juba Central Prison, Wau, Yambio and Twic State.
Government Spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth congratulates the released detainees and appreciates the president for setting the inmates free.
He says from Yambio one prisoner is pardoned.
Makuei wishes the people of South Sudan good health and happy Independence Day.
The information minister calls on every citizen to work for peace, unity and forgiveness.
