The International Criminal Court or ICC trial chamber number sixth on Monday found Bosco Ntaganda guilty for committing 18 war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ituri Democratic Republic Congo between 2002 and 2003.
In press statement by ICC it says Bosco was a Military Chief of Staff at the National Congress for defence of people, an armed militia group operating in the North Kivu province of DR Congo.
The Chamber found him liable as a direct perpetrator for three charges of murder, war crime, persecution, and an indirect perpetrator for the other parts of these crimes, the statement reads in part.
it adds that submissions will be received from parties and participants regarding the possible sentence, and separate hearing will be scheduled to receive evidences related to sentencing.
The Prosecution and Defence are given up to thirty days to appeal the decision of conviction of Bosco and issues related to procedure of reparations.
The trial of Bosco Ntaganda was opened on September 2nd, 2015 and closing statements was made from August 28th, to 30th, 2018.
