The former Governor of Western Lakes State denied receiving any warrant of arrest issued one week ago.

In a statement to Good News Radio on Tuesday, John Deng Mamer, claimed that no law enforcement agent informed him of any warrant.

He admits keeping the said amount seized from former Director Dut Riak Marol of the finance ministry, declared his readiness to face the law.

Deng did not reveal his intention to keep the money privately.

This is the first time the former government officials have been called to answer questions regarding decisions taken while in office.

The director was later released by the high court for lack of evidence as the amount was not presented.

The same court also ordered the return of the money which was confiscated.

On 26 June 2019, the attorney general issued a warrant of arrest to the former governor of Western Lakes State to appear in court over the missing amount of four million SSP and 8114 US Dollars.

The money was confiscated from the former director-general of the ministry of finance for corruption allegation.
