The Commissioner of Access to Information Commission in South Sudan is urging citizens to practice the Access to Information Act.
Nicodemus Ajak Bior says people should be able to make use of the act in order to hold those in public offices accountable.
He advises that when a citizen is denied information, he or she should launch complain to his office to address the matter.
South Sudan Human Rights Commissioner, Beny Gideon says the significance of access to information is accountability and transparency in the country.
He says there is need to train leaders, citizens and media practitioners about access to information and dissemination.
The commissioners were speaking during a seminar organized by UNESCO and UNMISS Rule of Law under the theme: ‘Access to Information Comparative Practices and Opportunities’.
The seminar was attended by government officials, lawyers and media practitioners at Juba Regency hotel on Tuesday in Juba.
