The authorities in Torit West County have intercepted 6 underage girls in Lowoi on Saturday for attempting to escape from the area to Juba on foot.
The six girls ranging from 11-15 years went from Torit bare hands alleging that they were going to search for Job in Juba.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel, Police Spokesman Lt Mathew Ochan Jacob says most girls do escape to Juba claiming that they are being mistreated by their relatives.
Ochan says police are searching for the girls’ relatives to know why they were escaping.
He says South Sudan’s laws prohibit unnecessary travels of underage children without proper reasons.
The girls are currently at Torit Central Police Child Protection Unit for further investigations.
Radio Emmanuel could not get any relative to the girls for comments.
