South Sudanese refugees in Uganda complain about lack of identity cards to move freely and also hinder them from registering their sim cards.
 
Jua Florence, Chairperson of Refugees Welfare Council in Pagirinya, on behalf of her colleagues requests the government, UN agencies and partners to produce to identity cards to facilitate their stay in Uganda.
 
She cites missing food ratios as one of the challenges some household leaders face especially those in schools.
 
Deputy Refugees Desk Officer in the Office of the Prime Minister in Adjumani, Pascal Asasi promises that in a little while they will supply all refugees with ID cards.
 
He discloses printing six thousand ID cards for Mungula Settlement and would soon move to other camps all over Uganda.
 
He appreciates the landlord for offering 1700 hectares square to accommodate refugees in Pagirinya.
 
Meanwhile, Resident District Commissioner of Adjumani, Taban Data Peter, warns the refugees against using the ID cards for crossing to South Sudan.
 
He advises the refugees and host communities to work together and live in peaceful.
 
The officials were addressing the crowd during World Refugee Day celebration on Thursday under the theme: ‘Take a step with refugees,’ in Pagirinya Settlement of Adjumani District.
