GoSS President said the referendum marks the beginning of a new era for the people of South Sudan and appealed to all voters to discharge their right in a peaceful manner.
Salva Kiir Mayardit said the vote is the most important decision Southerners are called to make during their lifetime.Mr. Kiir promised calm and guaranteed security during the polling that starts tomorrow.
He urged security organs to protect the lives and properties of South Sudanese.
Mr. Kiir urged the international community to recognize the outcome of the referendum.
He added that the referendum marks the beginning of a new age of cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
Mr. Kiir said there is no return to war.
From January 9 to 15 Southern Sudanese will vote to determine their own future.
