South Sudanese must depend on their own production, says, the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fishers in Wau State.
Samuel Athuai told Voice of Hope Radio that they are aiming to produce seeds locally instead of depending on FAO to bring exported seeds.
He said ‘due to the conflict that was in the country the project stopped but the ministry has made a proposal to partners and now FAO is ready to support this project of Ngo Halima’.
The statement came during when food and agriculture organization, FAO and Catholic University of South Sudan Wau campus held a meeting to find a way on how to restore Ngo Halima project.
Athuai reveals that they will consider Ngo Halima and are planning restore four schemes of Aweil, Warrap and Lakes States.
This is the first time for FAO to support such project in South Sudan, he stresses.
The official spoke to Voice of Hope Radio on Wednesday at Wau State Ministry of Agriculture.
