WHO announces outbreak of Ebola Virus in western Uganda

Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization or WHO on Tuesday announced that confirmation of a first case of Ebola Virus in Uganda.
 
WHO and ministry say there have been frequent previous alert in Uganda.
 
They explained that a five-year-old child from the Democratic Republic of Congo is the confirmed case the boy travelled from Congo with his family on June 9th this year.
 
WHO adds that the boy received his medical treatment at Kagando Hospital at the border where health workers recognized Ebola as a possible cause of his illness.
 
The child was transferred to Bwera Ebola Treatment Unit for management where currently he is getting his supportive treatment and care.
 
World Health Organization reports that Uganda Virus Institute confirmed the information on Tuesday.
 
The Ministry of Health and WHO sent out a Rapid Response Team to Kasese in Western Uganda to identify other people who may be at risk and ensure they are monitored and provided with care if they also become ill.
