The government is working hard to improve food security, says the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry in Tonj State.
James Ayiek Bath mentions that the ministry has seven tractors to provide services needed to support economic viability and incomes of various communities and families, Don Bosco Radio reports.
The minister says they are monitoring all groups and individual farm based on the reports of the committee to ease the assessment of acres of land cultivated in the area.
Citizens are given three tractors for hire and four tractors are given to different government institutions in the state, he explains.
The official complains that three tractors are not enough for civilians because the demand is high.
The minister cautions community members not to own the tractors, but use it according to the regulation.
He urges farmers to use this rainy season for cultivation to fight hunger in the state particularly and the country generally.
The minister spoke to the press on Tuesday in his office in Tonj.
