The incident was confirmed by Lakes State governor when during the graduation of 600 security officers at Lakes State Police Headquarters in Rumbek.

Governor Chol Tong Mayay described the incidence as an act of referendum sabotage, adding that there are people who are determined to disrupt the referendum by buying voters.

Mr. Tong confirmed that the culprit was under police custody in Rumbek.

The Governor wondered what those who sell their cards stand to gain, explaining that they are causing untold pain to the people of Southern Sudan and to the course of freedom that cost the loss of millions of lives.
