A five-day East African Community or EAC sectoral council meeting on education, science and technology, culture and sports is ongoing in Arusha, Tanzania.
The EAC Secretariat in a statement said the 15th meeting started with the session of senior officials on last Friday and is expected to end with the ministerial session this Friday.
The forum discussed consideration of education and training matters, culture and sports inter-University Council of East Africa.
The meeting is also discussing consideration of East African Kiswahili Commission and Consideration of East African Science and Technology Commission matters.
It looks at implementation of students essay writing competition; mutual recognition agreements and pending activities in harmonizing education systems.
Other issues under discussion are Kiswahili and development interventions in the EAC, development of principles and guidelines of training programmes and manuals.
