Eastern Equatoria Governor issues an order to bar owners to close their premises tomorrow to stop people from over drinking before casting their votes.

Louis Lobong Lojore issued the order yesterday during the symbolic launch of the referendum vote in Eastern Equatoria state, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Mr. Lobong said the ban on alcohol drinking on the day before the polls was to prevent interferences that might cause individuals to fail to vote on the historic day.

The appeal to stop drinking before the referendum was made by the chairperson of Eastern Equatoria state Women Association, Lucy Iliha Quinto.

Ms. Iliha said some people might get too drunk to make it to the long awaited polls on Sunday.

She adds that failure by registered voters to take part in the polling reduces the number of expected people to make the referendum a success.
