St Bakhita Girls Boarding School celebrates silver jubilee

Saint Bakhita Girls Boarding Primary School in Torit on Sunday celebrated its 25 years of existence since its establishment in 1994.
 
It was founded by Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Torit along with sisters of St Mary mother of the church, Radio Emmanuel reports.
 
Head teacher Sister Jane Masiko of Saint Mary mother of the church congregation, honors old girls who passed through the school, during the liberation struggle.
 
She says the school in 1994 started with only 20 pupils, but has grown up to 700 yearly.
 
Sister Masiko says it was not easy to start the school as many parents refused their children to be enrolled.
 
The Reverend Sister encourages pupils to imitate the founders who now became ministers, MPs and other high professions in the country.
 
She complains shortage of Teachers as some went looking for greener pastures in NGOs.
 
While Sister Rita Proscovia, founder of the school praises political leaders for cooperating with the church for success.
 
She says strong faith paved way to the continuity of the school in the midst of challenges.
 
While Kapoeta State Minister of Education Felix Makuja donates 50,000 SSP for the development of the school.
 
He tasks parents to contribute for the education of their children.
 
St Bakhita Silver Jubilee attracted thousands including the old girls, government officials and religious groups.
