Journalists for Human Rights or JHR, UNFPA, IRC and UNICEF trained more than thirty journalists from different media institutions on ethical reporting on gender-based violence and sexual abuse in Juba.

The training focused on survival centered approach when reporting about the cases of rape, sexual abuse, child protection and other sorts of harassments.

Journalists for Human Rights team leader in South Sudan, Laura Bain says the course aims to equip journalists with skills on how to report cases related to the bad practice in the country.

One of the participants from Eye Radio, Charles Wote, says he has gained practical skills which will help him report and protects his sources when dealing with cases of gender-based violence.

Charles says reporting sensitive stories while protecting the identity of the survivors is an important aspect.
