Community Empowerment for Progress Organisation or CEPO Lakes State branch on Wednesday began three-day training on risk assessment, physical security and digital safety in Rumbek.
The training brought together twenty participants from media houses and human rights defenders working for different civil society organizations in the state.
The course aims at strengthening capacity of journalists and human rights activists on safety and security of all human rights defenders.
Gabriel Mabor Mangar, CEPO Lakes State Coordinator welcomes participants and that the training will help journalists and human rights defenders to conduct activities without fear.
Mabor Riak Magok, Secretary-General for the Union of Journalist in South Sudan UJOSS Rumbek branch appreciates CEPO team for organizing the training.
He encourages journalists to be vigilant and ethical when reporting human rights violation and other community concerns in the country.
Director-General in the Ministry of Information Samuel Manyang urges journalists to always be proactive and have good listening skills while reporting issues.
He encourages the trainees to impart knowledge learnt to their colleagues.
