The Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic diocese of Malakal said the coming referendum is the final walk to freedom for the people of southern Sudan to liberate themselves from the hardships of Islamic rules under various regimes in Khartoum.

Monsignor Roko Taban Mousa appealed to the people of southern Sudan to choose their freedom beyond all the temptations and doubts that may emerge in their minds, Voice of Love reported.

Msgr. Taban said that there is nothing more important than freedom which is a true gift from God.

He told southerners to vote for freedom in order to maintain peace in the region.

Msgr. Taban said the church shall pray hard for the people of south Sudan to get their freedom in the coming referendum in a peaceful environment.

He urged Southerners to adopt culture of peace during and after the referendum.
