A priest in the Catholic Diocese of Torit is encouraging Christians to look after one another as Jesus cared for his disciples.

Radio Emmanuel quotes the parish priest of Our Lady of Holy Rosary Anthony Odemelam saying a call for peace is to serve the faithful and a sign of good leadership not personal gains.

‘My dear people of God the strength in everyday of our life, our journey for peace is to serve the people of God, as a leader it is a big challenge. When in position of power do you serve people of God or you are serving your own people?’, he questions.

Fr Odemelam says every leader will be held accountable on his or her roles.

He discourages selfishness among leaders as it is a punishment to the poor.

‘As father how do you take responsibility for your family, as a mother God left his children at your hands the duty towards your children be it a priest, governor, minister, father. Everyone shall be accountable for their own duties and responsibilities’, the priest explains.

The parish priest was preaching at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church in Torit.
