Hundreds of residents living at Kattay village of Tajura in Kumbur Payam of Heiban County in the Nuba Mountains lack drinking water in the area.

A resident Dawla Anur told Voice of Peace Radio on Sunday that lack of drinking water has led to suffering of women and children in villages.

She adds they spent 12 to 24 hours standing in line waiting to fetch water for domestic use.

Dawla complained that the area has only two boreholes but, it seems the water level has dried up because very little water comes out of the pump.

Another resident, Hawatif Fadallalah says they go to fetch water in far places which is very tiresome.

She calls on the authorities and local organizations to provide clean drinking water, health and education services for the children.

Kattay village of Tajura lack access to clean drinking water, health services, education and transport means to carry their sick to a hospital in Gidel or Luwere.
