South Sudan joins globe to celebrate World Press Freedom Day

South Sudan media stakeholders, journalists, civil society organizations peace implementing partners and government institutions will join the globe to celebrate World Press Freedom Day.
 
The day is celebrated under the theme; ‘Media for democracy: Promoting sustainable peace and democracy in South Sudan’.
 
The theme concerns the current political context and the state in the implementation of the revitalized agreement.
 
The commemoration in Juba will start on May 2nd with meet and greet reception to bring journalists and peace implementers together to share experiences that contribute to achieving a sustainable peace.
 
On May 3rd, there will be a national conference with panel discussions with a group of media personnel, peace and human rights experts on press freedom and presentations from various government bodies.
 
Ahead of the world Press freedom day, radio talk shows, public service announcements will be broadcast to raise awareness on freedom of the press, expression and access to information countrywide.
