Young Star Women FC on Saturday won Torit State Governor’s cup tournament after beating Kuku FC 3-2 in their final clash.
Umjuma Philip Aturun Chairperson for Torit Local Women Football committee thanks the government for their support to the success of the league, Radio Emmanuel reports.
She appeals to parents to allow their girls to participate in sports and other developmental activities in the state.
‘We committed to help girls to play at all levels, not only in Torit but up to FIFA and outside Torit state and we appealing to all of us as mothers and fathers let us support our girls and we have to give them ways and opportunities at all course not only in footballs and other things but also in education, education starts from home and with this am appealing to all women and men to allow their girls to involve in sporting activities, support them so that they can progress’ the women leader expresses.
Francis Amin, South Sudan Football Association chairperson congratulates Young Star FC for their victory.
He encourages Kuku FC who emerge the second not to give up but practice for next win.
Amin discloses that SSFA have developed plans and expresses their commitment in empowering women in sport activities in the Country.
The chairperson calls on Torit Local football Association to organize Torit women league in the state.
While Tobiolo Alberio Oromo Governor Torit State explains that sport helps build and transform a nation to lasting peace.
He calls on female players to commit themselves in sports activities as they build relationship and pave way for development in the country.
‘That is a very big achievement for the South Sudan Football Association and South Sudan Women Association this is how we can build and transform our country this is how we can achieve a total peace in South Sudan through sport. My dear young ones Young Stars and Kuku teams my advice to you is that I need your commitment, you need to make all the practice so that in a longer future you will be able to do very great things in the area of sports in South Sudan’, he stresses.
Rose Abau, captain of Kuku FC was awarded trophy and gift in an envelope for being the best player and top scorer of the tournament with seven goals while Joyce Adjumani of Young Star received her award of the best goalkeeper of the league.
The speakers made their statement during the handing over of governor’s cup at Torit Freedom Square on Saturday.
