South Sudan Council of Churches in its Easter message to the faithful quoted Pope Francis telling South Sudan Leaders that ‘I serve you, now serve your people in South Sudan.

The Council advises people to celebrate the feast of the resurrection of the Lord with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

The message says it is extremely important for people to realize that “peace” was the very first word that the Lord spoke and was the first message of Christ to his disciples after the resurrection.

The Council emphasizes that peace was his first gift to the Apostles after his sorrowful passion and his triumph over death.

It points out that the Revitalized Agreement is like a vow made to God and South Sudanese are saying that peace is good; reconciliation is possible; and Unity is better.

South Sudan Council wishes to South Sudanese brothers and sisters in all parts of the world that may the Holy Spirit move their hearts to forge a peaceful path in good faith during Easter.

‘May the Holy Spirit move our hearts to make sacrifices for the peace for the people of South Sudan during Easter!’, the message adds.

The Council in its Easter message prays that ‘May the gift and light of the Risen Christ shine and fill our homes and communities with his courage and love’.
