South Sudanese young girls undergo forced marriage and not been given chance to develop, says Catwalk to Freedom Founder.

Nyagoa William Nyuon says they are trying to talk to leaders and communities to come up with different ways because girls in protection of civilians’ site are getting pregnant frequently.

Despite the situation of the South Sudanese girls their families force them into marriage according to their social and financial connections, the founder adds.

The Catwalk to Freedom is an initiative using high fashion to narrate the stories of South Sudanese girls facing early child marriage.

It has started since 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya where girls are in Kakuma refugee camp and it also began in Juba in 2017 for girls in PoCs.

Ana Jena Ma Arusa for (I am Just a Child Not a Bride) is a campaign that started in 2018 where six girls from Kakuma and 42 from PoCs in Juba will be the beneficiaries of the initiative.

The Catwalk to Freedom held an event in Juba on Tuesday where they exhibited pictures of young South Sudanese girls dreaming of their future and not to be married off.
