Rumbek selected base for road construction in South Sudan

Chinese Construction Company chooses Western Lakes State as centre for road tarmacking in South Sudan in the agreement President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping signed in September 2018 in Beijing.
 
Chinese team is currently in Rumbek measuring three sectors of road from Rumbek to Bentiu, Rumbek to Gogrial and Rumbek to Mundri, Good News Radio reports.
 
Equipment for the initial commencement of road construction is expected to reach Rumbek after two weeks.
 
Western Lakes Acting Governor William Koji Kirjok says the company has already started working on the road from Juba to Rumbek.
 
Kirjok adds that Rumbek is peaceful and will support smooth construction of the road.
 
He appeals to citizens of South Sudan to maintain tranquility for the country to prosper.
 
According to the acting governor, the company promises to employ twelve thousand nationals and ten thousand Chinese engineers who have skills about the job.
 
The official was talking to Good News Radio in his office on Tuesday.
