The President of the Republic reiterated his commitment to accept the referendum results whether unity or secession wins.
Omar Hassan Al-Bashir called for a peaceful, transparent and free referendum process during a press conference in Juba at the end of his visit.Mr. Al- Bashir said the result of the referendum should be accepted in good spirit.
Mr. Al- Bashir revealed that in the event of secession the two states should maintain a positive economic, political and social relation since its people were one and had many linking activities.
He said the two nations would secure the borders and northerners in the south and vice-versa.
Mr. Al- Bashir added that the two peace partners should continue negotiations on the remaining issues of post referendum, borders and Abyei and reach a solution until July 9, the end of the interim period.
Mr. Al- Bashir concluded that all pending issues should be peacefully negotiated by the two parties.
The president returned to Khartoum after a one-day visit to Juba.
