The parent of a child who shot himself and injured his sister has been detained in Nzara Police custody.
Moses Samson, Nzara County Commissioner confirms that the girl who survived with bullet injury is receiving treatment in Nzara hospital while the father is in police custody for further investigation.
On Tuesday, a young boy collected his father’s gun and started playing with it in
Baakpara 10km away from Nzara town. The boy fired the bullet killing himself and injuring his sister when their parents were in the farm.
Samson condemns the incident adding that the government has always been warning forces of keeping guns at home.
The commissioner says the general security situation is stable.
