Hillieu community of Himodonge Payam in Torit County gave 1.2km by 500 meters land to the government for the construction of Equatoria International University.
Torit government on Tuesday this week met the community at Himodonge Payam Headquarters to consult and was allocated a land adjacent to South Sudan Correction Service Training Centre some five kilometers south of Torit town.
Speaking to radio Emmanuel on Friday, Torit State Acting Minister of Education says the university is an initiative of the youth and will fully be supported by the government
According to minister, Equatoria University will officially open and will operate temporarily at Torit Technical Institute between this month and May, depending on the speed of the contractor who is currently renovating lecture halls.
The education acting minister says the new university will help students who cannot afford studying outside the state due to economic hardship.
