The Mayor of Yei Municipality has on Monday issued an order banning the consumption of alcohol that are sold in sachets.
Speaking to Radio Easter in an exclusive interview, Mayor Alfati Morgan Ajil says the alcohol is cheap, prompting children to drink.
He says it is the responsibility of the grownup people to protect the young generation.
Mayor Alfati says he will contact the state government to reconsider restricting the influx of the alcohol at the borders.
He warns that anyone found selling the alcohol for the first time, will be fined 10.000 SSP or 3 months imprisonment. But if caught for the second time, the trader will be fined 15000 or six months imprisonment.
