Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North or SPLM-N commemorated and honored its martyrs, especially the late hero Youssif Kuwa Maki in Kauda town of the Nuba Mountains.
Deputy Chair of SPLM-N, Jogod Mukuwar, says it is the day to mirror, renew and follow the foot-steps of Yousif Kuwa.
Mukuwar describes the late Kuwa as a ‘Hero’ who worked hard despite challenges for the community of Nuba Mountains and Sudan in general.
The Deputy General Chief of Staff of Political Orientation, Yagub Osman Kaluka explains that Kuwa had a vision of eradicating illiteracy among his people.
He testifies that numerous students were enrolled in various schools in neighboring states and within Nuba Mountains during Kuwa’s leadership.
Youssif Kuwa Maki was born in 1945 at Jebel Miri, a locality in the Nuba Mountains of Central Sudan.
A member of the Miri sub-tribe, he was named Kuwa after his father and Mekki after his grandfather.
Kuwa was raised a Muslim, and actually grew up believing he was an Arab.
