The Commissioner of Torit County is requesting for humanitarian aid assistance to the recent affected communities of Pachidi and Lohiri of Lafon and Torit Counties.

Fermo Peter Isara appeals to aid agencies to reach the ground to assess the situation of the displaced persons.

‘Up to now, no any partner or humanitarian agencies make assessment, No one went. So am appealing to humanitarian organizations to help children because they left their belongings like blankets and other basic needs. They came empty handed; they even leave food in their homes and I’m calling the humanitarian agencies to intervene’.

Fermo Peter Isara advises community leaders to stop inciting communities to fight.

He encourages the two communities of Lohiri and Pachidi to join efforts in bringing durable peace among communities.

‘I’m urging the leaders from both sides to take a step in ending conflict not to escalate, So we must take good measures and we must talk to our people to stop this conflict at all cost. If it means moving on our feet to talk to our people, we must join our effort in a good spirit as sons and daughters of Torit to end this conflict, But not to spoil the image of Torit’.

Last week Sunday, conflict broke out between the communities of Lohiri and Pachidi Payam, leaving 25 people dead and several others injured, including children and women.
