The Catholic bishop of Rumbek urged citizens in North and South Sudan to welcome peacefully the outcome of Southern Sudan’s vote on self-determination.
Bishop Caesar Mazzolari warned that voters go to the polls with highly charged emotions and the results could be against the expectations of some.Bishop Mazzolari said the churches have prayed enough for the referendum to be conducted in peace.
He urged people in North and South Sudan to receive the final results of the vote with peace.
Bishop Mazzolari made these statements in his New Year’s Message through Good News Radio.
