The Sacred Heart Sisters start the New Year with big celebrations in Khartoum and Uganda with thirty four members taking first or final vows, renewing their profession and celebrating the silver jubilee of religious life.

Superior General Mother May Abut told SCR News that seven sisters make their first profession, eighteen renew their consecration, five make their final commitment and four celebrate twenty five years in the congregation.

Mother Abut added that the celebrations take place in Uganda on January 1 and Khartoum the following day.

Mother Abut said that there is much hope for the future of the congregation because new members are accepting the call to join the Sacred Heart Sisters.

The Sacred Heart Sisters are a teaching congregation but some members work in pastoral, others in health and also in social work.
