COPE and UNDP train citizens on how to end child marriage

Community Organization for Peer Educators or COPE in Partnership with United Nations Development Program or UNDP trained citizens on how to end early girl marriage in Gbudue State.
 
Program coordinator Michael Dakpari Peter says the workshop focus on how to empower girls, women and elders to prevent and end the issues of early marriage that lead to much drop out of school girls, Anisa Radio reports.
 
He mentions that the participants welcome the initiative taken to build the capacity of citizens and promise to implement what they have acquired.
 
The Coordinator advises underage girls, boys and women to concentrate on education instead of marriage.
 
Winy Kilona, one of the participants, appreciates COPE and UNDP, saying currently she knows the disadvantages of early marriage.
 
Jeniva John, another participant, appeals to parents to guide their children and encourage them to study not marriages
 
The one-day workshop brought together 55 participants in Yambio, Gbudue State.
