A high malnutrition figure continues to be reported from the Western Jebel areas of Southern Kordofan.
The South Kordofan and Blue Nile Coordination Unit confirm that 65 cases of children at risk of malnutrition were recorded in the health facilities in January.
According to Voice of Peace Radio, the report says it is directly linked to the food insecurity in the region.
In the Central region of South Kordofan, several acute watery diarrhoea cases were recorded especially in Umdoeren and Buram Counties in early January.
Some malnutrition cases were also reported in Yida refugee camp.
The report says this was due to poor water and sanitation situation in Southern Kordofan and in Yida, coupled with the presence of dust during the dry season.
A case of guinea worm was also reported from Darsumma, in Komo Ganza Payam, in Blue Nile and is currently being followed up.
