The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or OCHA says food insecurity deteriorated from late 2018.

OCHA reported that 5.2 million people severely food insecure, including 36,000 people in famine-like conditions.

It says in January, the number of people displaced by violence and conflict stood at 4.14 million, of which 1.87 million were internally displaced.

OCHA adds that thirty-five humanitarian access incidents were reported in January.

Eleven incidents were significant in severity, including the detention and relocation of staff, commandeering of vehicles and convoy blockages.
