The Director-General in the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare in Torit State is telling women who are drinking to stop too much consumption of alcohol in order to manage their families well.

Dominica Idwa says it is very difficult to empower women who are drinking because they take most of their time in drinking alcohol.

‘To women who are drinking through this they cannot be empowered because most of your time your concentrating on drinking Alcohol you may not if have that time to come closure to the rest of the women so you get what you don’t know and other ways of getting money or other ways may how to bring up   your children and these are all ways of empowerment if you keep on drinking there you don’t want to come to
people you go to the same class that  where  you used to drink then you are finished’, She stresses.

Idwa worries excessive consumption of alcohol makes some women forget the future of their children.

‘To women who are drinking to take precaution and think of the future of their children that’s why there are at times you see many children in the street it’s because you are neglecting children most of the time we are at drinking places we are forgetting children because I don’t have time to go and do other profitable things I just go and do something that cannot even help me’, the director-general emphasizes.

Idwa is calling on women to come out of that situation and join the rest in doing some business activities to sustain their families.

Director General for Gender Child and Social Welfare made the statement in an interview to Radio Emmanuel in her office in Torit on Monday.
